I’ve ‘known’ Elizabeth via Facebook for quite some time now…I followed her through the end of her pregnancy, and even supplied her with my infamous castor oil recipe to induce labor. I’ve watched her sweet baby girl, Lainey grow from a beautiful newborn to a sweet little girl in her pictures. I was so excited when she hired me to do Lainey’s one-year pictures! She is SUCH a doll and so full of personality! I had a blast working with you guys…you are such a sweet family! The love you all have for each other is so evident and I hope just a bit of that comes through in these images. :)

I think Miss Lainey is quite possibly one of the happiest babies I have ever photographed. Don’t believe me? Just check out these pics!

Thank you guys SO much for letting me do these for you! I hope I get to photograph you again as Lainey grows. <3

I had a session with the most gorgeous family the other day…they braved the cold and the wind for their yearly portraits. I’m so happy we got these done in time for Christmas! We had initially scheduled their session back in October, but the date of their session, I ended up in the hospital with concerns about labor and my blood pressure. Thankfully, everything was fine, but that day was a wash. Dad is doing his internship here at the hospital, so he doesn’t get many days off right now. Luckily, he had this past Saturday off, so we all crossed our fingers for good weather. It was SO windy but they were all troopers…I was seriously impressed with baby Madeline! She never once fussed about the cold and the wind, and was full of beautiful smiles! And get this, it was her first birthday too! We shot in two different locations, each with their own twist on ‘fall colors’…I LOVE how these pictures came out.

Without further ado…

Can I take her home? (I’m thinking that’d be a no, but I sure wanted to!)

The sun sets quickly at the above location, so it was on to location numero uno…one of my favorite spots to shoot in! It is just stunning in the fall, with the setting sun shining through the trees! Of course, the gorgeous family doesn’t hurt either! ;)

Isn’t her outfit cute? She was so much fun!

And the final pics of the afternoon…just before sunset.

Thank you, C. family for being so patient through the end of my pregnancy! I hope the wait was worth it, and I hope you love your pictures as much as I do! I hope you all have a fabulous Thanksgiving and Christmas! Give Madeline a hug for me! :)

One of the things on my seemingly never-ending list of photos to take was a photo of baby Elliott with his 8 big brothers and sisters. Other moms out there will know that this is NOT an easy task. First of all, photographing your own children is inherently more difficult than photographing someone else’s child. Why? The same reason why most kids will behave better for a babysitter than they will for Mom & Dad…they don’t know what to expect from a stranger, but they will push the limits with you! Secondly, nine kids is a LOT! That said, I was determined…this picture was at the top of my priority list. Plus, I needed a Christmas card!

So, I set off to find the perfect location. I wanted beautiful fall colors, and pretty light. I took my 2 littlest girls out to test spots and found this gorgeous area. We were even blessed with our first snowfall of the year!

I dare anyone to tell me they aren’t adorable! <3

The next day was the day for the group picture. I tried to remain upbeat and positive and hoped that would rub off on the kiddos (having pictures taken isn’t usually at the top of the list of fun things to do). A huge storm system was moving in and the sky was getting darker (you other photographers out there know this can be worrisome for a natural light photographer). We hurried up to the spot I had scouted out the previous day, and got everyone set up. We kept a nice warm blanket over baby Elliott until the very last second before I clicked the shutter. He slept through the entire thing! Do you see the snow falling? Literally 20 minutes after we finished up, this turned into a full on blizzard; so much so, that we couldn’t even see the mountains from our house. Totally crazy…we made it just in time!

I LOVE these pictures. I love them because they are my babies, and I love them because their personalities are shining through. In the 2nd picture, I was telling a wonderful, potty humor laden story about the great overflowing toilet. Hey, whatever works! I’d say it worked well! :)

I feel like the luckiest gal in the world…seriously, who couldn’t love this bunch? And yay! I got my Christmas card picture!

A TOTALLY unrelated picture, but one I wanted to share anyways, is this one of sweet baby Elliott. Isn’t it amazing how fast they change? He is such a sweet boy!

I had the pleasure of meeting Brittany and her beautiful family just a few weeks ago. Brittany is an amazing photographer out of Las Vegas…you should see her newborn work! I always get a bit nervous when shooting another photographer, but I’m so happy with how these pictures turned out! Having a gorgeous family never hurts either. :) These guys traveled all the way from Las Vegas for me to do their family photos, and then I drug them another 30 minutes to get to one of my favorite locations. We were dodging crazy monsoon storms the entire way, but we lucked out and no one got wet.

I hope you guys love these! It was a pleasure meeting you and THANK YOU for trusting me with your family pictures! I had a blast doing them!

This first one absolutely cracks me up…total classic kid moment!

Mom & Dad wanted a few shots together…totally in love!

I love how IN love this family is with one another…I hope I did that justice here! :)

This stunning family was one of the last sessions I worked into my schedule before I go on maternity leave in about a week. And uh, can you say gorgeous? Every last one of them! They were all so sweet too…super nice people! They’re moving to Henderson in a few days, but I am SO glad they came to see me before their move!

Ok, so along with gorgeous, they win the ‘best dressed’ award too…check them out! They did two distinct looks during their session. The first was a ‘Mad Men’ inspired vintage, formal look. I love how well you put this together, Heidi! You guys look amazing!

By the way, this was my 1st time shooting twins. They totally gave my huge pregnant butt a run for my money, but I absolutely LOVE the shots we got of them! And little Michael couldn’t be any more adorable if he tried…what a happy baby!

Look #2! Equally awesome yet totally different! We chose a different location to coordinate with these outfits. :)

The last stop of the night…what is quickly becoming one of my favorite locations. We totally lucked out with a nice monsoon day…the clouds and the sky were amazing! Look how the sunlight gets more and more golden as the evening wears on. We finished shooting just minutes before it sunk below the horizon. Golden hour bliss!

I had so much fun doing these for you guys! I hope you love them as much as I do. :) Best of luck with your move, and I hope you come back and see me again for pics someday. :)
