I had the wonderful opportunity this past weekend to get together with the fabulous Sally of Sallykate Photography. Unfortunately, my daughter was away for the weekend, but Sally had HER gorgeous daughter, Audrey with her. We went out on Saturday for some impromptu photography fun. If you are in a creative rut, there is NOTHING better than getting together with another photographer to get your creative juices going again. I had SO much fun doing these, and Audrey was an absolute joy to work with! Not only is this girl stunning, but she is a natural in front of the camera. She needed very little posing instruction…this was all her, with a few candid shots thrown in for good measure. I hope you make it out my way again, Sally…I’d love to do another get together!
We started off in the snowy mountains…it was cold, but we got some AMAZING shots! Did I mention that all of the dresses worn by Audrey in this session were my Grandmother’s? They are each around 75 years old…genuine vintage one-of-a-kinds! They don’t make them like this anymore!
One of my favorite locations…it’s nothing too terribly exciting on the outside, but the lighting here…oh, the lighting…
I LOVE this spot as well. This was Sally’s special request. I was happy to take her here. :)
And this spot is just something special…something other worldly and surreal. They day that we did these was overcast, snowing in the mountains, cold, and just overall unpredictable. You really never know what you’re going to get when you make the drive out here. That being said, I’ve gotten some of my favorite shots here. When you get great skies? Huge bonus. We definitely had great skies. Stormy snow squalls with patchy sun peeking through on the distant hills. So many possibilities! This first image is a panoramic landscape that I created by stitching together 3 shots…this small size really doesn’t do it justice…
Enter our model, and the fun begins! I’ve been asked if this is a backdrop…if this is real…if I pasted her onto this background. The answer to that is no…this is all 100% real!
Oh, the drama…LOVE it! We had moved to OCF by this point (off camera flash for you non-photog folks) as the sun had all but set and it was getting dark fast…
Yes, this sunset is real too! This is Arizona…we might have blistering hot summers and rattlesnakes galore, but we get the most amazing sunsets!
