As 2016 comes to a close in a few short hours, I’d like to share with you some of my favorite images and memories from this year. 2016 has been a crazy year full of wonderful memories and also some very scary times for us as a family. As a Las Vegas Family Photographer, I have had the wonderful opportunity and privilege of capturing priceless memories for my lovely clients. On a personal note, our new baby girl, Sylvie, was a pretty big deal this year! After 2 devastating miscarriages, we were ecstatic to learn we were expecting again. Sylvie was born on April 22nd and has been such a wonderful addition to our family. Sylvie, unbeknownst to us during my pregnancy, was born with a congenital heart defect called total anomalous pulmonary venous return (or TAPVR). Her early months were wrought with worry and anxiety for her future. She underwent open heart surgery on July 25th at 3 months old. We are so thankful that she came through her surgery well and has been thriving since. You can read more about Sylvie’s story on her Facebook page. I am currently planning some upcoming fundraisers for the Heart Center at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital and hope to use my social media platforms to help raise not only funds for more research into congenital heart disease, which is sadly underfunded, but also raise awareness for this horrible disease.
In other news this year, we purchased a quaint cabin in the Rocky Mountains in Northwestern Montana. We spent a lot of time up there this summer and fall and are completely in love with the area. We are still debating selling our home in Arizona and building on our Montana property and making it our permanent home, or going back and forth. The heavy snowfall in the winter would definitely take some getting used to, but the beauty of the area is unmatched!
Our kids are all doing well and growing up so quickly. Clint is joining the Navy. Calista will graduate from high school in May and is heading off to Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff next fall. Damien is a sophomore this year and Theron will be starting high school next year. We are homeschooling our younger kids, though they will probably be going back to public school next fall. We’ve kept busy with road trips, soccer games, and other activities this year. Sylvie’s hospital stays this year were rough, but we are finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel and hope for a much quieter 2017.
I’d like to share with you a collection of some of my favorite images from 2016. This is a random mixture of client work, creative shoots, and personal/family images. Grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and check them out. I enjoyed looking back on a year’s worth of work and putting this together to share with you. If you’d like, you can check out my 2015 favorites here . 🙂 Happy New Year! May your 2017 be full of abundant health, happiness, and prosperity!
