I had the chance to meet Katie, and her mother, Judy a few weeks ago to do Katie’s senior pictures.  Katie is a senior at Kingman High School this year.  I had SO much fun doing these – Katie is such a stylish, sweet girl and absolutely stunning to boot – I couldn’t ask for anything more!  Her dark hair and green eyes just pop in these images – so pretty!  I’ll be shooting her cousin, Alyssa later this week – so stay tuned for more gorgeousness! 🙂

We started Katie’s session off in one of my fave ‘secret spots’…I LOVE how her red dress contrasts with the greenery in the background.  You can take the girl out of Washington, but you can’t take the Washington out of the girl – this Washington girl is always looking for patches of green in this otherwise brown desert.   I have more than a few tricks up my sleeve!

Oh boy, there is a bit of a story tied with these next few pics.  We were actually on our way to a local dry lake bed to do some sunset pictures.  Storms were brewing in every direction but we decided to take a chance, and head out there anyways.  When we arrived, we could see some patches of water further out in the lake bed.  We decided to drive out there and get some cool pictures, incorporating the cracked earth with the water on it.  The ground LOOKED dry, but looks can be deceiving – we got a few hundred yards off the road toward these ‘water patches’ and quickly realized that the ground was actually saturated with water and was nasty, thick mud.  Before I had a chance to turn around, my wheels were spinning and we were STUCK.  I had visions in my head at this point of having to hoof it back to the road (through the mud of course), call a tow truck, and *hope* that they could get my truck out.  Thankfully, putting the truck in reverse got us out of the patch of goo were were currently stuck in, and then 4WD saved the day – we were able to drive from one little dry clump to another and slowly make our way back to the road.  At this point, I should really insert a picture that my daughter took of my Suburban with her cell phone, but I’ll spare you.  Lets just say that I probably went home with about 300 pounds of mud on my truck – my poor husband had the fun duty of cleaning it off – hahaha!  Anyways, I really think we turned our lemons into lemonade in this instance – once getting back to the road, we spotted these yellow flowers on the other side and I whipped out the OCF for a totally new look.  I absolutely LOVE how these came out, and am actually glad we were forced to use a new area.  The wind even kicked up to add a bit of drama – LOVE!

Last photo of the evening – sunset, storm clouds, wind, and a gorgeous gal.  She looks haunting to me in this.  It’s a new all-time favorite image – I absolutely love it.  For you safety conscious people out there, you could see for at least a quarter of a mile in both directions here, and there was no danger shooting this image.  I just wanted to put that out there!

Katie, it was an absolute pleasure working with you, and I truly wish you the best for your senior year and beyond.  I hope you love your pictures as much as I do! 🙂
